If you ever run out of Nescafe…in Norway

Recently, Friele, Norway’s leading coffee roaster, with a market share of about 32 % decided to launch their own instant. Not bad, and with a very distinct taste.

Oh no…it’s not Friele…it’s Douwe Egberts!

Oh no…I’ve been drinking the supposedly Friele coffee for one whole week now, only to realize today that it’s actually Douwe Egberts…what a disappointment, or maybe not? Actually I like this coffee, very much suited to my palate, so I decided to do some research about Douwe Egberts, is it a “cheap” brand or not?

It’s not Nescafe…it’s Friele

A week ago we had a new coffee machine installed at the office. Well, actually the machine itself is not new, it’s a leftover “gift” from a company that just moved out of our building. Supposedl, according to the signage, this machine serves “Friele” coffee, Norway’s most famous coffee brand. They even have an English version of their web site:

In 1799 Herman Friele bought his first coffee consignment and shipped it back to Bergen. Even today, Friele travels all over the world in order to taste coffee and choose the best batches. Today, Kaffehuset Friele is Norway’s leading coffee roaster, with a market share of about 32 % (value).
